Only 1 week to go, we hope you are all very excited about the 2011 GS Safari.
We have had a couple of enquiries about the best type of helmet to use so we thought we would go into more detail for you. Obviously all of the information has stated that an off road style helmet is better suited that a straight road helmet. To be exact, an “adventure” style helmet is the best, one with a peak and visor, like the BMW Enduro Helmet. The main reason for this being that a pure off road helmet may have a peak design that catches the wind at higher speeds. This is particularly a problem when riding a bike with a smaller screen (anything but 1200 GS and GSA). Many riders with off road helmets choose to cut out sections of their off road peak so that the air travels through, limiting how much the peak catches the air at speed.

After a short period of uncertainty it is great to be able to provide some information on the next BMW Safari event. The 2011 GS Safari is scheduled for early September, we can't tell you too much right now, but it will start in western NSW and make its way into the South Australian Flinders Ranges, before heading down to the coast and finishing on the edge of the bight.
More information will be provided very soon. Due to some issues with the Safari database is important that you enter your details on the registration of interest form. Please pass this information to anyone who you know that, has attended a BMW Safari previously or would be interested to know more about doing their first BMW Safari.
