BMW Safari events are exclusively
for BMW owners and BMW Motorrad Australia invites all riders
and their partners to participate in our exciting programme.
Since their inception in 1994
BMW Safaris have played host to over 4,000 BMW riders and their
pillion partners; and taken them thousands of kilometres to,
and around almost every region of Australia.
The BMW Safari is recognized as
one of the premier owner events on the motorcycle calendar and
offers exhilarating riding coupled with an outstanding social
programme. Naturally, you can choose to ride with a group of
friends, but as a rule we don’t ride in “convoy”
and everyone can leave our overnight destination in their own
good time (as long as it’s before the support vehicle)
and ride at their own pace. Routes are all carefully researched
and mapped and GPS waypoints are also provided to those with
BMW Navigator GPS units. Daily route maps, with comprehensive
directions, are normally handed out each night to maintain an
element of surprise and adventure.
The Safari events begin with a
casual “Welcome Party” and finish with a more formal
“Farewell Dinner”. During the Safari, various evening
social events are organised so that participants get further
opportunities to meet and make friends with their fellow riders
and partners. A professional and friendly crew provide logistical,
technical and tyre support and the event is hosted by the management
and staff of BMW Motorrad Australia.
The BMW Safari programme is comprised
of two separate events:
BMW Tourensport Safari
- The ultimate road journey, open to all BMW owners whether
riding solo or accompanied by a pillion partner.
BMW GS Safari - Off-road adventure for BMW motorcycles
with a recognized off-road capability and being ridden solo.
Once the planning crew have completed
a detailed recce trip of the proposed TS or GS Safari route,
then more specific details of the ride, and what you can expect
to see and experience will be made available on this website.
The Registration Form for any
current Safari can be downloaded from the Registration section
of this website or there will be an indication of when the form
will be available (usually within 6 months of departure date).
Once registered you will receive confirmation, normally within
7 working days. Shortly after that you’ll be sent an Accommodation
Booking Form which will show all of the overnight destinations
along with pricing and accommodation options.
Prior to the Safari you will need
to arrange for your BMW to be “Safari checked” by
your nearest BMW Motorrad authorised dealer to ensure it is
ready for the trip. This check is free and allows you to access
the services of the technical support crew, during the Safari,
should you encounter any minor problems. The check will need
to be booked in advance during the period identified on your
Registration Form.
Regular monthly updates are posted
in the News section of www.bmwsafari.com so you can follow developments
and progress of your chosen TS (TourenSport) or GS event. Providing
we have a current email address and your spam filter is set
to allow receipt of our communications we’ll notify all
those on our database when these updates become available.
